Computing
Intent
At Five Acres Primary School, we recognise that computing is an essential skill for life in an ever-changing digital world. We aim to equip pupils with the knowledge, creativity and problem-solving skills needed to use technology confidently, responsibly and imaginatively. Through our vision of Learning Together, Growing Together, Thriving Together, we inspire children to become active participants in the digital world and develop the computational thinking skills needed for the future.
Implementation
Our Computing curriculum is based on the Teach Computing Curriculum and covers all aspects of the National Curriculum. Learning is carefully sequenced across the three strands of Computer Science, Information Technology and Digital Literacy, enabling pupils to build knowledge and skills progressively from Year 1 to Year 6. Children learn through practical experiences, programming, creating digital content, handling data and understanding online safety, using a range of software and technology to support their learning. Assessment is ongoing and includes teacher observation, discussion, practical tasks and end-of-unit assessments.
Impact
By the time they leave Five Acres, pupils are confident, responsible and capable users of technology. They can apply computational thinking, solve problems creatively and understand how technology shapes the world around them. Through Learning Together, Growing Together, Thriving Together, children develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to succeed in an increasingly digital future.
